CHCH-TV is one of Canada’s leading local heritage stations with a strong commitment to quality news programming serving the dynamic and rapidly growing regions of Hamilton, Halton, and Niagara on multiple platforms. We have an immediate opportunity for a Part-Time Reporter.
The following is a paraphrase of the primary functions and does not outline all of the duties and responsibilities for this position:
- Gather, write and present accurate and engaging news stories for broadcast and digital
- Generate enterprise story ideas
- Report live on camera from the field and studio
- Conduct research
- Develop and maintain contacts
- Other duties as required
The ideal candidate must:
- Submit a demo reel exhibiting mid- or major-market excellence in journalism and presentation skills
- Possess a broadcast diploma or equivalent
- Possess at least two years of news reporting experience in broadcast and digital platforms
- Be comfortable with social media and multimedia reporting
- Demonstrate strong spelling and grammar skills
- Be prepared to work various shifts, including some weekdays as required
- Have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
- Have a working knowledge of ENPS or similar production systems
- Have familiarity with the current events and newsmakers of Hamilton, Halton, and Niagara
